Ladakh On Knife’s Edge: Updates On the Ground Situation

NEW DELHI: Five days after Indian troops outmanoeuvred their Chinese opponents in gaining tactical heights on the south bank of Pangong Lake in eastern Ladakh, the situation on the ground remains tense. Both sides have deployed troops, tanks and artillery guns which, at places, are barely 300-400 metres apart. Brigadier-level talks between both sides have been on. The terrain is difficult and getting essential supplies to troops living in the open at super-high altitudes, where the temperatures dip below zero degrees, is a challenge. India has readjusted its deployment all along eastern Ladakh to preempt any further Chinese misadventure. StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief Nitin A. Gokhale has the latest on this developing story.
