NEW DELHI: India China talks wound up late last night in Moscow with an agreement for troops on both sides to disengage. The respective army commanders will work out the modalities, restoring the situation as it existed before the current crisis. So the immediate danger of a flare-up of hostilities has been averted but what of the future?
There is no mention of resolving the boundary issue, rather the special representative talks will continue even though it has failed to achieve anything after 22 rounds. The Chinese want more CBMs when there is every manner of CBM already in existence. Clearly, the Chinese pinpricks will continue, so will incremental nibbling.
