Trump Officially Nominated As Presidential Candidate From Republican Party

Donald J Trump officially secured the nomination of the Republican party as the Presidential nominee at the national convention in Milwaukee. He walked into the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee as a triumphant man, with a white bandaged ear and to a hero’s welcome. The defiant fist still pumping the air after he survived an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania on July 13. As crowds gave him a raucous welcome, they shouted, ‘Fight, fight, fight’, a reminder of what Trump had signaled from the stage in Butler, moments after he had survived the assassination attempt on him.

As he shook hands with those on stage, the announcer was heard saying, “He is here tonight to show his courage, his defiance to somebody who tried to kill him. You will not take this man down. He has the courage, the strength and he will be the next President of the United States.”

The 4 day Republican convention started just two days after Trump survived an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania when a bullet grazed his ear, leaving him with a bloodied face, but no serious injury or harm. The gunman was shot dead. His motive remains unclear. Trump was seen listening to others make speeches at the convention, often looking uncharacteristically subdued.

He will address the convention on July 17.

Ending days of suspense over his choice of running mate, Trump has picked Ohio Senator JD Vance, a one-time strong critic who is now among his biggest supporters.

Taking to his social media, Truth Social, Trump wrote, “…I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio. J.D. honorably served our Country in the Marine Corps, graduated from Ohio State University in two years, Summa Cum Laude, and is a Yale Law School Graduate…
…As Vice President, J.D. will continue to fight for our Constitution, stand with our Troops, and will do everything he can to help me MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”

David Bellman, a guest at the Convention said the assassination attempt has united the Republican Party. “It’s coalesced around him, in my opinion, and they’re energized and ready to reelect him,” he said. Another Republican delegate said, “The man is tough. He is tough and he’ll fight for every American.” Ashley Cash at the Convention said, “We’re thanking God that President Trump, you know, survived the (attempted) assassination. And I think this is really galvanizing everyone behind him. Not only people who’ve been supporters for a long time, but people who maybe were on the fence, I think are now coming to see what we’ve been saying all along, that he’s just been so persecuted.”

Opinion polls show Biden and Trump in a close fight with Trump ahead in many key swing states that could ultimately decide the outcome of the November 5 election.
