Want To Catch Paris Olympics Action Live? Here’s How

The French government is all set to livestream the Paris Olympics at its Alliance Francaise campuses across India.

These premises which promote the French language and francophone culture, will double up as fan zones during the Olympics (July 26 to August 11).

Sports lovers can watch the competitions and cheer for Indian athletes at these vibrant fan zones.

These include events at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Who Took This Initiative?

The network is steering this initiative with the French embassy, the Consulates General of France in India and French Institute.

The French government hopes that this initiative will bring Paris 2024 closer to the Indian audience.

At the same time, the French government is optimistic that it will accelerate sports cooperation between India and France.

PM Modi’s Message 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X,  ‘We are proud of the Indian contingent at the Paris Olympics. ‘’

He further said that their passion and dedication is remarkable.

“Come, let us all Cheer For Bharat!”, Modi said.

PM Modi previously met members of the Indian contingent to extend his best wishes for the Paris Olympics.

Modi said that he would be very eager and excited to welcome them after winning the medals.

He said that while he was aware that they will give their absolute best, the Olympics are also a field to learn.

The Unique Medals 

The winners at the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, will bring not just glory but also ironwork from the Eiffel Tower.

These medals carry a piece of iron from the Eiffel Tower, which was recovered during a recent renovation.

Each medal is engraved with the name of the sport, the discipline, and the event along its edge

The Indian Contingent

The Indian contingent to Paris comprises 117 athletes – 70 men and 47 women.

Of these, 72 are participating in the Olympics for the first time.

This is India’s second-largest contingent  at the Olympics.

Haryana has the maximum representation with 24 athletes.

The neighbouring State, Punjab has 19 athletes at the Games.

On the other hand, many members of the contingent have participated in the Olympics before.

For example, veteran table tennis player Achanta Sharath Kamal is marking his fifth appearance at the Games.

India’s Flag-Bearers

Achanta Sharath Kamal and badminton champion P. V. Sindhu will be India’s flag-beaers at the Paris Olympics.

“It is a proud moment for both of us and is a one-time opportunity for anyone to be a flag-bearer, they said.

Apart from Sindhu, tennis veteran Rohan Bopanna, paddler Manika Batra and weightlifter Mirabai Chanu will play their third Olympics this year.
