The Russian government has said that its forces have destroyed dozens of drones in several regions across the country. The biggest attack happened in the southern Russian region of Krasnodar.
The attacks come at a time when Russia is holding a general election where Putin is certain to win.
Officials said that Ukrainian drones were launched against an oil refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, but have been brought down.
Over the past week, it is the sixth oil refinery attack that has taken place in Russia.
Moscow’s mayor Sergei Sobyanin wrote on Telegram that four drones were downed in different areas while flying towards the capital.
Meanwhile, the presidential elections in Russia entered the third and final day with Moscow accusing Ukraine of using air attacks to try to sabotage the polls.
On Friday, Russian president Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine of trying to disrupt the polls with its intensified drone and missile attacks inside Russia.
Today will be a test of the country’s opposition, which called for all its supporters to vote at the same time at noon, in an action called “Noon Against Putin.” This initiative has been welcomed by now-deceased Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny’s wife Yulia Navalnaya.
Supporters have called upon people across the country to vote at the same time at noon in each of the country’s 11 time zones.
“Today we want to say to all of us – noon is the very beginning. Yes, some of us are scared. Yes, the choice is not easy. But we are the people. And we will cope with both the choice and the responsibility,” the initiative wrote on Telegram.
The Ukrainian government has accused Russia of sabotaging the elections with those living in territories held by Russian forces being forced to vote.
According to reports, heavily-armed, masked Russian soldiers were accompanying election officials going from house to house and forcing Ukrainians to vote.
