The Indian Embassy in Portugal strongly condemned a recent protest by Pakistani nationals outside its Chancery building in Lisbon, labelling it a ‘desperate provocation.’

The Indian Embassy wrote on X: “Embassy of India @IndiainPortugal
responded firmly with ‘Operation Sindoor’ to the cowardly protest organised by Pakistan near our Chancery building. We thank the Government of Portugal and its police authorities for their support in ensuring the safety and security of the Embassy.”

India Sends Defiant Message

Sending out a strong message to the protesters, the Embassy said: “India will not be intimidated by such desperate provocations. Our resolve remains unshaken.”

‘Silent Yet Strong And Resolute Message’

Indian envoy to Pakistan, Puneet Roy Kundal, wrote on X: “Protests organised by Pakistan outside the Embassy were met with a silent yet strong and resolute message from our side: ‘Operation Sindoor is not yet over’. All the Embassy officers were steadfast in this approach.”

India-Pakistan Conflict

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 and targeted nine terror hubs in Pakistan and PoK.

The operation was launched in response to the April 22 terror attack at Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, where terrorists shot dead 26 people, all men and mostly Hindu tourists.

The incident drew widespread condemnation.

The operation aimed to dismantle terrorist hotbeds in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Ceasefire After Escalation

After the Pakistan Army again targeted Indian civilians and resorted to cross-border firing, the Indian Armed Forces retaliated, destroying defence systems of the hostile neighbour.

On Pakistan’s appeal, India responded with a ceasefire on May 10, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned of fresh retaliation if Islamabad goes astray.
