4 Convicted For ‘Horrifying’ Murder Of UK Parcel Delivery Driver Aurman Singh

The four convicted for murder were identified as Arshdeep Singh, Jagdeep Singh, Shivdeep Singh and Manjot Singh, while Sukhmandeep Singh, was convicted of manslaughter.

Four men have been convicted of murdering Aurman Singh, a DPD parcel delivery driver who was ambushed and savagely attacked with an arsenal of weapons in Shrewsbury, 240 km north-west of London. The market town in Shropshire has a sizeable number of residents of Asian origin.

According to local news reports, Aurman Singh, 23, was fatally assaulted, sustaining severe head injuries from blows with an axe, in an attack described by witnesses as horrifying.

Following a trial at Stafford Crown Court, Arshdeep Singh, 24, of Shaw Road, Tipton, Dudley; Jagdeep Singh, 23, of Goodrich Mews, Dudley; Shivdeep Singh, 27, of Greenfield Road, Smethwick; and Manjot Singh, 24, also of Greenfield Road, Smethwick, were all found guilty of murder.

Additionally, Sukhmandeep Singh, 24, from Paynels, in Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, was convicted of manslaughter in connection with the incident. Four other men believed to have been involved in the fatal attack are still at large, according to the police. Singh, a common surname among Punjabis and Sikhs, means “lion” in various South and Southeast Asian communities.

The court heard that on the day of the murder, Aurman Singh and a colleague were on a delivery run when they were ambushed by a group of eight men, who had been lying in wait for them in their cars.

As Aurman Singh’s colleague stepped out of the van to make a delivery, the assailants, each concealing their face with a mask and armed with weapons, pounced on him. He suffered multiple blows to the head with an axe, fractures from a golf club, and a fatal stab wound, and was left for dead in a pool of blood at the roadside.

The suspects reportedly fled in a white Mercedes Benz and a grey Audi, discarding some of the weapons in nearby Hubert Way. According to the Shropshire Star, ‘The Audi was followed by police as it headed towards Tipton in the West Midlands where the men were filmed dumping the axe, wrapped in a grey hoodie, in a bin.’

Despite no clear motive being established during the trial, the prosecution successfully secured murder convictions against the four individuals responsible for the deadly assault, while Sukhmandeep Singh was found guilty of manslaughter.

The family of Aurman Singh expressed their profound grief, describing the loss as unbearable and life-changing. The UK murder investigation, led by Detective Chief Inspector Mark Bellamy, involved collaboration with multiple police forces across the country, demonstrating a concerted effort to bring the perpetrators to justice and send a strong message against violent crime in communities.

Last month, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak had okayed a £ 31 million package to protect MPs from attacks by pro-Palestinian mobs, which some said cut into the police forces’ ability to counter violence in other areas.
