Modi: Op. Sindoor Marks Decisive Shift In India’s Strategic Approach

Modi Operation Sindoor

Operation Sindoor is now India’s established policy in the fight against terrorism, marking a decisive shift in India’s strategic approach”, Prime Minister Modi declared in an address to the nation late on Monday and outlined three “key pillars” of the security doctrine:

Decisive Retaliation will involve a robust and resolute Indian response to any terrorist attack, targeting terror hubs at their roots.

There will be No Tolerance for Nuclear Blackmail, there will be no weak-kneed response to any threats of nuclear intimidation, and terrorist sites will be targeted with decisive strikes.

The third pillar is No Distinction Between Terror Sponsors and Terrorists. In other words, governments sheltering terrorists will not be seen as separate from them. He pointed to senior Pakistani military officers attending the funerals of terrorists during Operation Sindoor. It brought home to the world “Pakistan’s disturbing reality”, its sponsorship of terrorism.

If Pakistan seeks survival, he said, it must dismantle its terrorist infrastructure, “there is no other path to peace,” he warned. Any future discussions with Pakistan will focus solely on terrorism, and any negotiation with Pakistan will centre around Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

“Operation Sindooor,” Modi underscored, “has added a new dimension to the nation’s military prowess … and the effectiveness of Made in India defence equipment was deisively proven. The world is now witnessing the arrival of Made in India defence systems as a formidable force in 21st Century warfare.”

Operation Sindoor is not just a name but a reflection of the emotions of millions of Indians, he said, emphasising that the terrorists never thought that the Indians would make such a bold move. “But when the nation stands united with Nation First as its guiding principle firm decisions are taken ane impactful results delivered.”

He highlighted how every citizen, every community, every section of society, and every political party stood united in demanding strong action against the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Locations like Bahawalpur and Muridke had long operated as centres of global terrorism, linking them to major attacks, including 9/11 in the US.

“Since the terrorists had dared to destroy the dignity of Indian women, India had eliminated the headquarters of terror … and given the armed forces full freedom to eliminate them.” India’s decisive blows pushed Pakistan to seek ways to de-escalate. He disclosed that after suffering heavy losses, Pakistan’s military had reached out to India’s DGMO on the afternoon of May 10th. By then, India had reduced Pakistan’s terror hub to ruins.

He noted that Pakistan had assured it would cease all terrorist activities and military aggression. India will continue to assess Pakistan’s every move in the coming days, ensuring that its future actions align with its commitments.
