The panellists discuss Former Women’s doubles World Number 1 Peng Shuai, who was initially not seen in public, after she accused former Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli of coercing her into sex, the removal or deletion of the social media post, the head of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Steve Simon warning that he is willing to lose hundreds of millions of dollars worth of business in China if Peng is not fully accounted for and her allegations are not properly investigated, a subsequent e-mail retraction of the allegations, pictures and videos of Peng released on Chinese state media affiliated handles, Peng’s video call with International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach, diplomatic boycotts of the February 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and renewed calls for an athletic boycott as well.
