‘Countering China Would Require A Regional & International Effort’

NEW DELHI: China has been the prime flavour for many seasons for reasons that are well known. It explains the steady flow of books and other analysis on that country. We now have Blinkers Off: How Will The World Counter China by Gaurie Dwivedi. She is an economist turned journalist and is currently an academic at the United Service Institution in Delhi.

While her narrative is familiar and well founded, Dwivedi offers some solutions when it comes to countering China. These ranging from rebooting alliances to strengthening the thews and sinews of war including cyber capabilities. Some of this is already happening although perhaps at a pace that could well be seen by some as slow and even delayed. Nevertheless, this book is a welcome reminder of the challenge before us and what needs to be done to meet that challenge.
