NEW DELHI: Into its tenth month, the Russia-Ukraine war has not just upset global supply chains but also shattered a myth that modern-day battles will be swift and largely technology-driven (as demonstrated by the Armenia-Azerbaijan war of 2020). The extensive use of heavy weaponry by both the Russian and Ukrainian forces lends credence to the fact that conventional warfare is here to stay. It’s also having an unintended side-effect: Ukraine is fast running out of artillery ammunition and replenishing the stocks are proving tough for its Western partners.
