Pakistan Alleges Imminent Indian Military Strike Within 36 Hours

Tarar criticised India’s stance, saying New Delhi is acting like "judge, jury and executioner", a role Pakistan rejects.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have sharply escalated following a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that left 26 people dead on April 22. A Pakistani lawmaker has now claimed, citing what he called “credible intelligence”, that India is planning to launch military action against its neighbour within the next 24 to 36 hours.

In a strongly worded statement on X, Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar alleged that India is preparing for an attack based on “baseless and concocted allegations” of Pakistani involvement in the Pahalgam terror incident.

Tarar criticised India’s stance, saying New Delhi is acting like “judge, jury and executioner”, a role Pakistan rejects.

What Did Tarar Say?

Tarar said that contrary to belief that Pakistan sponsors terrorism, the Muslim-majority country has been the “victim of terrorism itself and truly understands the pain of this scourge”. “We have always condemned it in all its forms and manifestations anywhere in the world,” the Pakistani lawmaker claimed in his tweet.

He added that Pakistan, being a responsible nation, had offered a “credible, transparent and independent” probe into the attack through a neutral commission of experts. Tarar further urged the international community to take note of the situation and said that the responsibility for any escalation would rest solely with India.

Modi Greenlit Military Operation

Tarar made the post after reports emerged that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the country’s armed forces “complete operational freedom” to respond to the Pahalgam attack.

Government sources said the Prime Minister told top defence officials that the forces could decide the mode, timing, and targets of India’s response.

Earlier, Modi had declared that India would not rest until it tracked down and punished those responsible for the killings, vowing to pursue the attackers to the “ends of the earth”.

Strong Actions

India has taken a series of strong diplomatic and administrative steps since the terror attack. It expelled Pakistani military attaches, suspended the 1960 Indus Water Treaty, cancelled all visas issued to Pakistani nationals from April 27, and shut down the Attari land transit post with immediate effect.

In response, Pakistan closed its airspace for Indian flights.

Meanwhile, ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) have continued for the sixth day in a row, with Indian forces reportedly responding to unprovoked firing from Pakistani posts.
