Just hours after India and Pakistan reaffirmed their commitment to a ceasefire, Pakistan reportedly violated the agreement on Saturday at multiple locations along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border. In response, the Border Security Force (BSF) has been instructed to retaliate with full force against any further violations, according to official sources.
The escalation by Pakistan came shortly after India announced that a ceasefire agreement had been reached, following Islamabad’s initiation of truce talks. The Pakistani government also confirmed the agreement shortly thereafter.
Despite the diplomatic breakthrough, multiple explosions were reported in Srinagar, prompting a security-enforced blackout in the area. In separate incidents, drones were shot down in Pokhran, Rajasthan, and in Baramulla, Kashmir, indicating heightened tensions along sensitive zones.
The Pakistan Army engaged in artillery shelling along the International Border, targeting the Akhnoor, Rajouri, and RS Pura sectors. Simultaneously, ceasefire violations were also reported along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Palanwalla sector of Jammu.
In Baramulla, security forces shot down a drone, and multiple sightings of suspicious Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) were reported. Blackouts have been imposed in both Baramulla and Srinagar as a precautionary measure. Additional drone activity was observed in Rajouri, while an air raid siren was sounded in the Samba district, further escalating security concerns in the Jammu region.
‘What Just Happened?’
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdulla tweeted, “What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!!.”

Trump’s Announcement
US President Donald Trump on Saturday announced the ceasefire between the two nuclear-armed neighbours with a post on Truth Social.
Trump said both Delhi and Islamabad reached the agreement after a ‘long night of talks mediated by the United States’.
He wrote on Truth Social: “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
India’s Confirmation
In a short statement, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said: “The Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of Pakistan called the DGMO of India at 15.30 hours (3.30 pm) this afternoon. It was agreed between them that both sides would cease all firing and military action on land, in the air, and at sea with effect from 1700 hours (5 pm).”
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar posted, “India and Pakistan have today worked out an understanding on stoppage of firing and military action. India has consistently maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. It will continue to do so.”
