A fire caused by a drone attack near Dubai International Airport was brought under control on Monday, with no injuries reported, authorities said.
Dubai officials said the incident occurred close to the airport and affected one of the fuel tanks.
“A drone incident in the vicinity of Dubai International Airport (DXB) affected one of the fuel tanks,” the Dubai Media Office said in a statement on social media.
Flights to and from Dubai were temporarily suspended following the incident, according to Emirates airline.
Flights Temporarily Suspended
The disruption briefly halted flight operations at one of the world’s busiest international travel hubs.
Dubai International Airport serves as a key global transit point for long-haul travel between Europe, Asia and Australia.
Authorities said the fire had been contained and no casualties were reported.
Rising Attacks Across The Gulf
The incident comes amid escalating tensions in the region following the outbreak of the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran on February 28.
Gulf Arab states have faced more than 2,000 missile and drone attacks since the conflict began.
Targets have included U.S. diplomatic missions, military bases, oil infrastructure, ports, airports, hotels and residential buildings.
UAE Among Countries Hit
The United Arab Emirates has been among the countries most affected by the attacks.
The UAE normalised relations with Israel in 2020 and has faced repeated strikes during the current conflict.
However, officials say all Gulf Arab states have experienced attacks and have condemned Iran’s actions.
